Rachel Dara
Singer / Songwriter

Rachel Dara is a Canadian‑born, Canada/USA dual‑citizen singer‑songwriter based in Montreal, Quebec. A compelling chanteuse, storyteller, poetess, and modern bard, she creates work rooted in folk‑alternative while drawing freely from literary and theatrical traditions. Her songwriting is defined by narrative depth, emotional nuance, and a rare ability to translate lived experience into vivid, cinematic songs.
At just nineteen, Rachel has already built an impressive performance history. She has appeared at festivals across Quebec, including the West Island Blues Festival, Montreal Ribfest, and Montreal Fringe Festival. Her reach extends into the United States as well, with solo performances at events such as the New York State Fair, Wally Lake Fest, and Brew York. Rachel is preparing to release her upcoming EP, Old at Soul and Young at Heart, recorded on 2‑inch tape and produced by Josh Goldman, known for his musical direction on Juno Award winner Kairo McLean’s Easy Now. Her next single, “In the Darkness,” is scheduled for release on March 6, 2026.
Rachel refined her vocal skills under the guidance of Michelle Treacy winner of CTVs “The Launch”; guitar training under Josh Goldman producer/composer for Juno Award winning “Kairo McLean”; and mentorship by Tim Steinruck of “The Mighty One” who guided her to her Producer Mark Howard with whom Rachel Dara created her 1st indie folk album “The Next Big Invention” in Nova Scotia at the tender age of 14. Mark was careful to craft the album on a 75 year old mic to capture the composition, lyrics, vocals and guitar in a style reminiscent of Joni Mitchel to whom he compared Rachel Dara’s words and storys… beyond her years.
Rachel Dara has been featured on the front page with articles in DISTRICT MUSIQUE and LAZIE INDIE as well as articles in the Suburban. She is a chameleon when it comes to music genre; while most of her songs fall into the category of indie/alternative she has been known to experiment with soul, rock, pop and country folk styles as she experiences and experiments with different artists she collaborates with and listens to. With a catalog of over 150 songs she is ready to produce her next album!
